Tue 2 April
The long Easter weekend meant lots of chocolate (of course!) and racing (of course!) for the Diagonal Comms team, who spent much of it watching events at Oulton Park. There, 18-year-old Australian racing driver, Patrick Heuzenroeder – whom we announced as a Diagonal client last week – started his GB3 Championship season. Watched by his compatriot and mentor, David Brabham, Patrick recorded two double-figure points-scoring finishes during a solid debut. The season continues at Silverstone on 27-28 April.
Morning planning meetings with Asetek SimSports and our British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) media team – the latter to finalise plans for tomorrow’s opening pre-season test at Brands Hatch – are followed by an introductory call with a potential new client.
Wed 3 April
The Diagonal Comms team is out in force at Brands Hatch for the British Touring Car Championship’s (BTCC) first pre-season test. Including comms/PR, digital/social media staff, and videographers, seven Diagonal Comms representatives are on-site to capture all the action. After a day of mixed conditions, during which a total of 1,898 laps and 2,293 miles of the Indy Circuit are completed across six and a half hours of running, Jake Hill – who has finished third in the previous two BTCC seasons – ended the day on top of the timesheets. The BTCC now moves to Croft for its second test on 10 April, before the final run at Donington Park on 16 April.
Thu 4 April
Before an afternoon spent strategising with one of our recently-acquired clients in our City of London offices, episode two of Diagonal MD Matt Bishop’s new podcast, ‘And Colossally That’s History’, is released. This week, inspired by 18-year-old Oliver Bearman’s impressive Formula 1 debut for Ferrari at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Matt and his co-host, Richard Williams, debate and decide the five best British drivers to have raced in F1 for The Scuderia.
Fri 5 April
The week ends with a proposal sent to a potential new client and an introductory meeting with another. Watch this space…
